Taking a Leap Without a Next Step
Who am I becoming?
Today I read in my book that I can let go of becoming the person I want to be.
And this sounds relieving.
And yet, how do you stop trying to become someone when that’s all you can remember how to do?
The answer is, of course, you take a step. And then you fuck it up. And then you take another step. In the doing, you lose the purpose. Lose the why. And soon you’re just doing.
But what about all the things I’ve believed? About how you need to have a why. Need to have a vision. Need to know where you’re going. My god, is it all just bullshit?
Yes. It’s so obvious, of course.
We were never in control in the first place.
We were never the ones writing the script.
We try so hard and push so much towards those dreams and visions.
We manifest and envision ourselves in that beautiful future life or business we know we’ll someday achieve.
But inherent in this is the assumption that where we’re going is somehow preferable to what is here right now. And if that can be questioned and seen to be the lie that it is, all the goals leading up to that “better” place crumble too.
What if I told you…
The place you are so set on getting to is not going to make you happier or make you feel more fulfilled
You’ll still be triggered by the same shit if/when you get there
In focusing on getting there, you’ll have to sacrifice a whole lot of experiences happening RIGHT NOW because you won’t be able to see them.
Worst of all, what if I told you you don’t have any control over whether you get to your goal or not?
Would you still go for it?
Are you brave enough to move with intuition, moment-by-moment?
Do you trust that the universe is fully on your side?
Can you orient yourself towards responding to the moment instead of driving towards a prescribed future?
How do you run a business in this way?
The team needs to know how we do things today.
There is clarity of roles and responsibilities.
There is an aligned team who all wants to be there.
And if things need to shift, there needs to be clear, transparent communication.
And then together we just shift and shift and shift. We are an organism… a collective. We all have functions like the parts of a human body. The heart pumps the blood, the lungs breathe the air, the skin protects from contaminants… all are needed and all are organized and communicate seamlessly. There is satisfaction simply in being this organism that works so beautifully.
